Life of words and words of life

Write me you say,

write me like a poem,

write me into life.

Light, then night,

darkness breathes tonight.

Days, days of stagnant delays,

no rays could come my way.

Night, wrap me in your shadows,

bring me your whispered illusions

of big sky dreams and visions.

No more delusions or deceptions.

Snuff out the light

and creep back into the night.

Don’t trip me now

for the tomorrow that never arrives.

Write me in your dark

but be kind with your choices.

Spare me your despair.

Don’t write like a fool.

Don’t imprison me in strokes

and crosses or breathe into me

a reality forever unbecoming.

Enough, enough,

light is the other path.

Walk backwards and turn.

Unbuckle the letters

and unshackle the apostrophes

Stop your careless ink seeping.

Free me from past meaning.

Undress me from tarty diminutives.

Attire me with better collocations;

metaphors with new possibilities.

Write me out of agony.

Untangle those juxtapositions,

free the words on my pages.

Craft my next scene with hope

and write me like a dream.

When times grow dark,

My words will lift you up.

When you feel trapped,

I will be your freedom.

Write me,

Write me like a poem,

Write me into life.
