Youjia Song is a writer, educator, wilderness wanderer and artist. She is a lifelong searcher for meaning, a learner of languages and cultures, and is passionate about simple living, sustainability and indigenous wisdoms.

She follows the philosophy of continuous learning and designs her life to a state of flow. She sees each moment that arise as a possibility of presence, fulfilment, challenge and growth.

Some of her life experiences include:

  • Writing her first book about being born as a second child of China.

  • Diving into icy waters and swimming in Antarctica.

  • Being dropped off by helicopter on a 65km moving glacier to walk across the length of Kyrgyzstan from east to west.

  • Tracing the steps of snow leopards in Tuva Ubsunur Hollow Reserve in Siberia.

  • Learning to play Inca ceremonial music on bamboo flute in Peru.

  • Living in the Andes to understand the role indigenous music plays in Andean cosmology— culminating in the Master of Anthropology thesis Playing Music to the Cosmos: Agrarian Rituals of the Kallawayas of Northwest Bolivia.

  • Studying Hinduism, Buddhism and the thoughts of western philosophy.

  • Learning to speak English, Spanish, Bahasa and Russian
